Considering an ERP Upgrade? 3 Big Data Headaches to Avoid
ERP Upgrade: Now What Do You Do with Your Old Big Data? So you need an ERP upgrade and now you are presented with the question – what do we do with...
It’s the New Year and there are many people making predictions about what’s in store for us in 2015. When it comes to ERP software, these predictions often involve trying to figure out what future features will be released in the next version of your ERP upgrade. Sometimes the publishers of the ERP software are only describing "vaporware" because the features have not been fully developed by the engineers, yet. If you are trying to make sense of ERP technology and any additional features that will benefit your business, you are not alone. The following are top 3 suggestions that aren't predictions, but rather ERP upgrade changes you should look at incorporating in your ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) in the New Year.
You’ve heard a lot of hype over the past few years about everyone going mobile. You might think this is just a fad because "I can't run a million dollar company from a phone." You might be right for those of us older folks who don't run their lives from their phone, but our lot is shrinking, FAST. Businesses led, or soon to be led, by management under 40 have spent their entire adult lives with faster, smarter, smaller computers. Those in your management team who rely on their cell phones for that constant feed of information, they're ready to run more efficiently with mobile ERP.
Humans are often times visual creatures. "A picture is worth a thousand words." is true now more than ever. Looking at paper or PDF reports won't be sufficient to keep up with, or overtake, your competition. Your ERP should not only provide visual analysis of your data, but with a single button provide "what if" evaluations.
What's keeping you from doing the analysis you should doing? The most likely culprit is data entry. Those check requests won't enter themselves...or will they? Today's ERP systems have the capability to import select screens or connect to 3rd party data entry automation systems. Take advantage of these systems to gain efficiency in one of the most tedious areas of accounting. CADTalk with SYSPRO is a great example.
As I stated, these aren't predictions, modern ERP systems have these capabilities NOW. So why aren't you taking advantage of them? Could it be your system isn't as modern as you thought it was and it’s time to consider an ERP upgrade? Make changes in 2015 to modernize your ERP, one way or another.
