What is ERP? ERP is Enterprise Resource Planning that integrates all your business processes in an automated way. What if your personal life was automated using ERP technology in a way that completely integrated your house, your kids, your car, and even your dog? If you had an ERP software system for your personal life, your stress would turn into control because your phone or car is acting as a command center with automated technology. Have you ever been stressed out in traffic because you have some place to be and all you can feel is stuck and stressed?
What is ERP? Imagine in our ERP world for your life, you are stuck in traffic but you have dinner planned with guests who will arrive in 30 minutes. Your GPS tells you that you are 25 minutes away. You now have your voice activated car call your wife to tell her you are running late. She is stuck at work and won’t be home in time, either. Your car now acts as a command center for your remote control operated house. You remotely open the windows to air out the house since it can start to smell like your dog if the windows are left closed for too long while you were working. Next, you command your house to start the robotic vacuum which starts to run across the floors to pick up your furry dog’s hair. Then, you preset your oven for 350 degrees to preheat for your roast that you need to cook for your guests. You decide while in traffic that it’s probably best to feed the dog and let him out before you get home. You remotely release the dog food from your automatic dog feeding machine then open the doggy door to let him out. You wonder where your kids are so you tell your car to find them. You have GPS chips in your kid’s wrist bands so now you know your kids are fine playing down the street in the neighborhood.
You are starting to feel less stress because you are in control. You check your wristband that informs you that your heart seems to be doing fine so it appears you will live to fight another day. Your stress level has gone down because now you have just accomplished 6 different tasks while stuck in traffic that will make your life easier even before you even pull up to the driveway. You just called your wife, aired out the house, cleaned the floors, fed the dog and let him out, tracked your kids and checked up on your stress levels to make sure you are ready to entertain and have a fun evening with friends and family. This high performing life is not out of reach if you have the right technology and money to implement such a dream.
So what is ERP? What if your business could be run in such an automated way? An ERP software system takes advantage of the latest technology to help integrate all your business functions in a way that allows you to run more efficiently and increase profits.
If you do not have an integrated ERP system, here’s an example of some of the risks you may face. At the end of every month, your sales people have quotas to make and your VP of Sales is pressured to make his bonus. More importantly, your VP of Sales must help make the President look good for his next board meeting for investors. If your sales people don’t have enough stock in the warehouse or if their customers are on credit hold with Finance, then they won’t be able to process their orders to make their quotas. If they don’t make their quotas, the company looks bad to investors because sales goals were not met. If sales goals aren’t met, then next month’s marketing budget may be cut so you can’t find and attract new customers to grow the business. All this can be solved with an integrated ERP software system.
